It's important to make sure that you make all the rooms on the inside available to accommodate the foundation, namely Christ. By this, I mean that He wants to occupy all of your inward being, not some part of it. More below!
Reference: 1st Corinthians 3:10-11 New International Version (NIV)
"By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ."
Matthew 7:26 reads, "But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand" (NIV). Indeed, building any structure on a foundation is one of the crucial factors to be cautiously examined in any project, because "foundation" isn't a visible or tangible display once a structure comes to completion. Hence, bearing in mind that anything raised on sandy foundation can be easily destroyed because it is a shaky foundation, can help us to avoid the perishing effects of such foundation. So it's quite dangerous to build on a sandy foundation because grain of sands has the tendency to become worn out over time.
Interestingly, building on the right foundation is all about hearing a peculiar kind of words and having a practical experience of such hearing. On account of this verity, Jesus said, "But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice..." In His versified statement, "to hear and to practise what you hear" are the keywords. Firstly, hearing is a concept of great importance because it has to do with auditory insight that can provide you with estimated dimensions (height, width and depth) of the volume you need in order to establish the truth in your inward being. Once the volume of what you hear is very high, wide and deep - inwardly, no outside force can subdue the quality and influence of the knowledge that has been imparted within you.
Romans 10:17 reads, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (NKJV). Faith comes by listening to a speech from a focused standpoint, which is a concrete way of learning what is being communicated. Got it? Many people may experience challenges associated with poor understanding, when they receive instructions or information in a written form but, when it comes to a teaching approach, we can clearly understand them because the medium for receiving the conveyed information is "auditory sensory perception." Zero wonder, faith comes by hearing, not necessarily or mainly by a written code.
So, when it comes to the Word of God, we should be more of auricular learners. That's what the Scripture implies, when it says, "and hearing, by the word of God." Are you with me? To that effect, Pauline epistolary platitude numbered as Ephesians 4:11-12 reads, "Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ" (NLT).
A teaching priest has the empowering ability to equip and build you up with the articulate account and expository knowledge of the truth, because as he or she teaches the written Scriptures by expressing and putting them into appropriate explicated words, and hence, godly audiences assimilate the worded concept in a conscious manner - leading to ingrained cognizance and comprehension. To instantiate this verity, let's consider a Biblical narrative of Philip's meeting with the Ethiopian Eunuch who was reading the Bible without a precise explanation and enlightened understanding:
'Philip started out, and he met the treasurer of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under the Kandake, the queen of Ethiopia. The eunuch had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and he was now returning. Seated in his carriage, he was reading aloud from the book of the prophet Isaiah. The Holy Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and walk along beside the carriage."'
Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah. Philip asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" The man replied, "How can I, unless someone instructs me?" And he urged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him" (Acts 8:27-31 NLT).
Beloved, the Word of God is of high quality concept because it is not humanly-inspired thoughts, but rather, "All Scripture is God-breathed..." (2nd Timothy 3:16 NIV). So by hearing it from the right teaching priests, you can establish its concrete textures as the right foundation on the inside. Stay tuned for part 3. Shalom!
Heavenly Father, I thank you for pouring the concrete nature of your Word into me, as I listen to it oftentimes, thereby making sure that my soul and spirit are rightly developed, saturated and sealed with the gospel truth to withstand and ward off storm and wind attacking effects. Daily, I discover the astonishing glory embedded in the Word, and I find myself captivated by the vibrant and rewarding influences it establishes in my life, in Jesus' Name, Amen!
