REANIMATION - FINAL PART

Reference: 2nd Corinthians 4:16 New American Standard Bible (NASB)

"Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer person is decaying, yet our inner person is being renewed day by day."

Today's topic is focused on our inner person being renewed by the Spirit.

Pauline epistolary expression numbered as 1st Corinthians 2:11 reads, "Who can see into a man's heart and know His thoughts? Only the spirit that dwells within the man. In the same way, the thoughts of God are known only by His Spirit" (The Voice).

Now watch this: This spirit of a man sees into visual messages in a man's heart. Then the next step, known as recognition, is the ability to transmit the seen "thoughts" to the brain for interpretation, because the brain gives meaning to the seen thoughts. This is the reason the spirit in a person is always the first to detect when that person is in distress, in inner disarray, in joy, in peace or while experiencing other emotional effects. And that's the meaning of "Who can see into a man's heart and know His thoughts?" in the versified statement. Simply put, to "SEE" has to do with accessing visual messages.

When you consider all the things you perceive on a daily basis, your spirit clearly sees them in your heart, and then you can act in response to the perceived stimulus. In the same way, the thoughts of God are known only by His Spirit. Got it? How does someone receive the Spirit of God? By hearing about Christ and receiving Him as personal Lord and Saviour. To that effect, Galatians 3:2 reads, "Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ" (NLT).

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, and He is always identified with the capital "S" in the English spelling. Now when you receive the precious Holy Spirit, you are automatically filled with great and glorious riches of Christ, and His presence empowers you to hunger more for the things of God so you can please Him, by growing in grace and in the knowledge of the Word.

Just like you can feel a person's touch against your skin, you'll always feel the touch and promptings of the Holy Spirit in your recreated human spirit as you are getting renewed day by day. That's how the Holy Spirit testifies with our Spirit that we are children of God. In a more clarified manner, Pauline epistolary expression noted this truth sufficiently in Romans 8:15-16 which reads:

"For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!" The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God" (NASB).

The act of crying out, "Abba! Father!" denotes the active response of the recreated human spirit to the progressive renewal of the inner person, who is consciously receptive in conformity to the image of God. Then as this conformity goes on, the Spirit Himself testifies with our spirits that we are children of God. Got it? In a nutshell, it is mainly about your spirit man perceiving the stimulus image of God in the Spirit, and responding to it by crying out "Abba! Father!" Then the Holy Spirit nods in affirmation with your spirit that you truly belong to God.

Paying apt attention to the voice of the Spirit is a clear evidence that our inner person is getting renewed day by day. Just like our physical senses, there are manifold spiritual senses that often separate the types of spiritual discernment we experience. These include our spiritual sight, smell, touch, sound, as well as our taste perception. Of course, you can taste something and audibly, the Spirit can speak to you about it. Therefore, as we regularly renew our inner selves, we can perceive the voice of the Spirit by using any of these senses, and oftentimes simultaneously, meaning that these senses are part of spiritual weapons by which we fight spiritual warfare. To that effect,

"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ (NKJV).

When we habitually yield the five senses to the Spirit by active faith in Christ, we can always experience guided cogitation well focused on awakening the awareness of those spiritual senses to pull down strongholds, throw down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and also bring every negative or contrary thought into captivity, to the obedience of Christ, as we walk in the newness of life. Shalom!

Scripture Reading -  Romans 6:4; Philippians 4:8; Titus 3:5; 1 John 3:1.

Exuberant Declaration:

I continually perceive and interpret my life's development and escapades through lens of the Word and by the leading of the Spirit. Praise God!
