NO WORD FROM GOD WILL EVER FAIL - PART 4

SATURDAY 07 SEPTEMBER 2024

Reference: Luke 1:36-37 New International Version (NIV)

"Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail."

Although Zachariah and Elizabeth were considered as childless couple, they prayed for a child from God, and He heard them, although it happened in their old age. The Bible says, "But the angel reassured him, "Don't fear, Zachariah. Your prayer has been heard. Elizabeth, your wife, will bear a son by you. You are to name him John. You're going to leap like a gazelle for joy, and not only you - many will delight in His birth. He'll achieve great stature with God" (see Luke 1:13-15).

After Angel Gabriel, God's archangel, delivered the good news of God's will to Zachariah, He assured him that his prayer had been answered, yet Zachariah said to the Angel, "How can I be sure of this? I'm an old man and my wife is an old woman." But the Angel said, "I am Gabriel, who stands in God's presence, sent especially to bring you this glad news. But because you won't believe me, you'll be unable to say a word until the day of your son's birth. Every word I've spoken to you will come true on time - God's time."

Instead of agreeing with God in faith, Zachariah demonstrated a clear voice of unbelief. Beloved, for your faith to count and prevail, it has to get under the skin of your tongue and be converted to sanguine spoken word, which is achievable by the Spirit, and indicative of your unwavering belief in God's Word.

What about Mary?

In the sixth month of Elizabeth's pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to the Galilean village of Nazareth to a virgin engaged to be married to a man descended from David. His name was Joseph, and the virgin's name, Mary. Upon entering, Gabriel greeted her:

Good morning!

You're highly enriched with God's favour,

Delightful and graceful inside and out!

God be with you.

Mary was thoroughly shaken, wondering the motive behind a greeting like that. But the angel assured her, "Mary, you have nothing to fear. God has a surprise for you: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son and call his name Jesus..."  How will this be, Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" (see Luke 1:26-34).

Did you notice that there was an engrossing interplay between Zachariah's response to Angel Gabriel, and that of Mary? Interestingly, both of them responded from the standpoint of unbelief, yet Zachariah was made dumb for saying the similar thing Mary said.

Favourably, Mary was exempted from getting dumb; she wasn't only spared, she was highly honoured by angel Gabriel - with kind and gracious words, regardless of her voice of unbelief. Was the angel of God unjust and unfair for unleashing His fury against Zachariah, but sparing Mary, even though both of them responded from their limited human perspective? Answer: Everything God does is right; His sovereignty in all things cannot be questioned!

Beloved, even if everybody on the planet were a liar and a doubter, God's Word would still be true, including whatever He does; where and how He chooses to do it, and with whom He chooses. It stands written: Whenever He speaks, He is in the right. When He says it, it becomes the right voice which will surely come to pass. Stay tuned for part 5. Shalom!
