LAY HANDS ON YOUR CHILDREN OFTEN AND PRONOUNCE THE BLESSING ON THEM
MONDAY 30 MAY 2022
The laying on of hands is a symbol of authority, used in ancient times by the old testament biblical figures to bless, to set a person apart for God in a special way, or to bestow the power of God's Spirit upon God's children. Our spiritual forefathers placed hands on their children's head and spoke certain promises over them, which caused the blessing to rest upon them and trigger the fulfilment. This blessing was passed from one generation to another by laying on of hands.
Reference: Genesis 28:1 English Standard Version (ESV) 'Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and directed him...'
When a Christian family gives birth to a new born baby, a joyful occasion which involves the laying on of hands to thank God for the child's miraculous arrival is observed. The child is dedicated and prayed for to ensure His wellbeing, all-round prosperity and divine protection.
Christians often do this after the example of Jesus, who laid his hands on little children and prayed for them. When parents present their newly born baby before God among a gathered congregation, they acknowledge that the child belongs to God. In a special prayer, the child receives a blessing and the parents are commissioned to raise the little one under the pinion of God's wings and shield.
The laying on of hands is a powerful tool in a Christian parent's hands considering its potency. The Bible says, "Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it" (Proverbs 22:6 NLT). Training up a child in the right direction gives them a sense of identity and self-worth. Increasingly, you'll observe that they find themselves walking in the right way and company, instead of walking with rebellious peer groups, street gang and other wrong groups or showing up in the wrong places.
The right guidance and direction also empower them with spiritual discipline and confidence to keep fulfilling their God-given destiny with the fear of God instead of being defined and labelled by a wayward lifestyle. For instance, Isaac raised Jacob by showing him the way to do things properly. And so Jacob was confident in life because he had his parents' love and acceptance in full measure. For this reason, the Lord blessed Jacob and preserved him to become the father of a great nation, just as it was revealed to his mother, Rebekah.
You don't just need to release the blessing of God into your children's life on a regular basis by laying hands on them. As you speak into their lives often because it works for them, you must also direct them aright by teaching them what is right and what is wrong, which is one of the greatest gifts you can ever offer them. Love and nurture them with the right words, especially with the Word of God because, by your words of blessing, their lives are improved and inspired to greatness.
Beloved, teach your children to function with the consciousness of Abrahamic blessing which has been programmed to work for them in Christ Jesus. And be rest assured that this will propel them to walk steadily on the path of greatness they've been born into.
