GOD DESIRES TO SHOW US - PART 3
SATURDAY 29 MAY 2021
In as much as prayer is important, its not only meant for asking God for things. Prayer is more than communicating with God. It's spending time with the one you love and getting to know His depths. Every time you pray with this understanding, the full purpose and hidden mind of God will continually be unveiled to you. In His presence, you can enquire about unsearchable and remarkable secrets, and He will grant you insight into those hidden truths.
Reference: Jeremiah 33:2-3 New Living Translation (NLT)
"This is what the Lord says—the Lord who made the earth, who formed and established it, whose name is the Lord: Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come."
In Luke 5:3-6, Jesus got into the boat belonging to Simon Peter, the professional fisherman, and from the boat, He taught the multitude that gathered. After that He told Simon, "Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch." Peter, having worked all night catching nothing at the same river, never imagined catching such a large number of fish, even to the point that their nets began to tear. Beloved, the mystery of fish filling the nets beyond measure is a remarkable and unsearchable secret Peter and His colleagues did not know about. It was a hidden truth unveiled to Peter by the Master.
Jesus didn't need a GPS device to track those fishes. He simply told them to cast their nets and guess what? All the hidden fish began to respond and emerge. At that point, Peter and his companions were fully amazed at the catch of fish they had realised from the very deep water they struggled all night and accomplished nothing. Beloved this is God for you. He truly meant it when He said, "Call to Me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things, fenced in and hidden, which you do not know (do not distinguish and recognize, have knowledge of and understand)."
The Bible says in John 16:13: "When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future" (NLT). Although prayer is the highest calling of the Christian life, without the Spirit of truth guiding us in it, we can never be led to discover the hidden truths and remarkable secrets which we do not know about, including things to come. This is why praying in the Holy Ghost must be our utmost priority in order to rely firmly on the intelligence of the Spirit. The Spirit of God is wiser than men, and when God says, "I will show you great and mysterious things or remarkable secrets", even about things to come, He does it by the Holy Spirit.
1 Peter 1:10-12 (NIV) reads: "Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things."
Beloved the mystery of God's grace that has now come to us was revealed to the prophets of the old by the Spirit of Christ, who is the Holy Spirit. Before the time of revelation, it was a hidden truth. However the Holy Spirit showed them the mystery or rather, guided them into the truth, which is the idea of salvation by grace, about to come to pass. In other words, the hidden truth is the salvation we have received today, but then, it was an unfathomable revelation made known by the Holy Spirit (see 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NIV).
Today the Golden news is: God desires to show us more of His mysteries. Therefore, call on Him in prayer and He will answer you and show you great and mysterious things that you still do not know about. Shalom!
