The translation known as the New American Standard Bible states that a generous person will be prosperous, And one who gives others plenty of water will himself be given plenty (Proverbs 11:25). If you sustain a life that is consistently, excellently, and ardently lived in accordance with the virtue of being generous, then this Scripture guides you to know for yourself, who you really are as a generous person and what becomes of you. Reference: Isaiah 32:8 New King James Version (NKJV)
"But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand."
Sustaining a generous attitude towards mankind is also a call to pay apt attention to the reward that follows, emphasizing its vital importance. Generosity is not just an attribute that generous people happen to have and exhibit; it is something that such people share in common with divine nature itself, because it links an apparently immortal essence of the human soul and the corresponding actions with the divine order of doing things.
Believe me, if the natural lifestyle based on human nature is fixed in this way, you can never find any stingy person and ungenerous expression anywhere in this world, as well as any human being living a life that is opposed to liberal principles.
Godly generosity is considered as a higher attribute of divine nature; it is the guiding light that keeps people's souls in delightful alignment with their source or Creator, from an agreeable relational position. In a nutshell, let me show you how much God loves a cheerful giver:
2nd Corinthians 9:6-7 reads, "Remember: A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving" (MSG).
The Amplified Bible stated that God loves a cheerful giver and delights in the one whose heart is in his gift, which is indicative of the truth that God places a high value on living a life that is consistent with divine principle of generosity, especially where one's heart, plus their public and private actions, aligns with the principle in their faith walk.
Zero wonder apostle Paul encouraged the young Pastor Timothy to say to those wealthy in regard to this age:
"Command those who are rich with things of this world not to be proud. Tell them to hope in God, not in their uncertain riches. God richly gives us everything to enjoy. Tell the rich people to do good, to be rich in doing good deeds, to be generous and ready to share. By doing that, they will be saving a treasure for themselves as a strong foundation for the future. Then they will be able to have the life that is true life" (1st Timothy 6:17-19 NCV).
Beloved, Solomonic inspired utterance enlightens that one person is generous and yet grows more wealthy, but another withholds more than he should and comes to poverty. A generous person will be enriched, and the one who provides water for others will himself be satisfied (Proverbs 11:24-25 NET).
An act of generosity is not just about fulfilling a divine principle, it's a great privilege available and at play in positioning us effectively to reap the enduring benefits, and to keep us firm and active in increasing our fitness in the realm of generosity. This could also help explain why the godly, who are generous and rich in good works are considered wise, because they are optimized to reason that way effectively, or to make the best or most effective use of their resources in gaining true riches. Stay tuned for part 10. Shalom!
I see and function in the world from God's perspective, and I practise His righteousness and generosity, thereby interpreting things wisely and producing the Kingdom results that those practices embody. Praise God!
